Description: The Brampton Lawn Bowling Club held an open House at their facility at McLaughlin Street and Queen Street in Brampton on May 2, 2015. The event was designed to introduce visitors to the sport of lawn bowling, and members were on hand to teach techniques and help guests throw their first bowl. Lawn Bowling is a medal sport in the Commonwealth games, and its rules and play are similar to curling. The Brampton club has just over 100 members, and dates back to 1907. While the club is private, membership is affordable because the City of Brampton owns the eight greens that the club uses throughout the city, and grants the club exclusive use during lawn bowling season. Members can bowl socially during the week, and tournaments are held on weekends. For more information, please visit: www.bramptonlawnbowling.ca/.
